To ITE; with thanks.

I realised that I’ve never got the chance to dedicate a post to my alma mater; ITE College East Simei. Thank you for the 2 years of education and practical training. Thank you for building the foundation on which I found the courage and strength to carry on learning.

Many inspiring stories were heard today in the University Cultural Hall, many of which I found Daniel Poh’s story to be quite impressive. From ITE to SP to University, he was a role model for all of us. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of Education and Second Minister of Defence, the guest-of-honour also touched on the ITE system being a role model for all vocational institutes all around the world to follow.

I couldn’t agree more as I recalled during the days in Simei, there were not one but many official visits by foreign education ministers touring and exploring the facilities of the college. Now, ITE isn’t what it used to be 10 years back or even in the early years of 1992. It is now a respected institute for secondary school leavers who prefers a more practical approach to their course of interest.

Now with their 2nd institute, College West, I won’t be surprised if student enrolment for year 2011 will spike to an all time high. With great surroundings and facilities, who doesn’t want to study in that kind of environment right?

Yeap, me receiving COM from Dr Ricky Tam, Principal Ite College East.

Cheers,

LQ
